Description
This accelerometer is a small sensor located on the board of your iPhone 6S Plus. It detects the movement and orientation of the device, which allows the screen to switch between portrait and landscape mode, lets some games respond to your movements and supports several motion-tracking features. When it fails, you often notice that the screen no longer rotates, the display stays stuck in one direction, or apps no longer recognise movement.
This part is a compatible version, made by a third party, in the 14-pin format. Before you start, switch the device off completely and disconnect the battery if your model allows it. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if you have one, and handle the component by its edges. Never force the connectors and remove the current part carefully, without pulling on neighbouring ribbon cables.
Once the replacement is done, switch the device back on and test screen rotation in both directions, then a few apps that use motion. If the behaviour remains abnormal, check the fitting and the cleanliness of the contacts. Take care with the lithium battery: do not puncture it, do not bend it, and never use a device whose battery is swollen.
