Switch the phone off and disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables. Discharge static electricity by touching an earthed metal surface.
If the current battery is swollen, deformed or unusually hot, stop using it and do not attempt to puncture or bend it. After fitting, carry out a few full charge and discharge cycles before normal use, then monitor the temperature and charge retention for a few days.
