Description
This compatible battery replaces the internal battery of the iPad 1. It powers the tablet when it is not plugged into the mains and lets you use it on the move. When a battery ages, you often notice battery life dropping quickly, the device shutting off suddenly while still showing a charge level, or charging taking longer. Replacing this part gives you a tablet that lasts longer between two charges.
Before you start, switch the iPad off completely and unplug the power cable. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static mat if possible, and have small tools suited to the screws ready. The battery is a lithium cell: do not puncture it, do not bend it and never force the connectors. If the current battery is swollen, stop using it and handle it with care. Disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables.
After fitting, switch the device back on and carry out two or three complete charge and discharge cycles so the gauge can calibrate. Watch the temperature during the first charge: it should stay moderate. If the device does not start or does not charge properly, first check that all connectors are firmly seated.
