Avoid static electricity by touching an earthed metal surface before handling the components. Disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables, and take care never to puncture or bend the lithium battery.
After fitting, connect the charger and let the device go through a few full charge cycles so the battery settles. Watch the temperature: unusual heat should make you stop using it. If the battery looks swollen, stop using it and set it aside somewhere safe.
