Description
This battery is a compatible replacement part for the Surface RT3 (2015) tablet. It powers the device when it is not plugged into the mains, and it replaces the old battery when that battery no longer holds its charge, drains too quickly, switches off without warning or refuses to start after a long period of inactivity. Replacing the battery can restore a decent runtime to a tablet that is otherwise still usable.
Before you begin, switch the tablet off completely, unplug the charger and place the device on a flat, clean surface. Work in a temperate room, away from heat, and avoid any contact between metal tools and the components. Discharge static electricity by touching an earthed metal surface before handling the parts. Disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables.
A lithium battery requires care: do not puncture it, bend it or short-circuit it. If the battery is swollen, deformed or hot, do not use it and set it aside in a safe place. After fitting, carry out several full charge and discharge cycles so that the battery indicator recalibrates, then check the charge, the temperature and the general operation.
