Description
The Edge 60 (XT2505 / 2025) flash cover is the small part that protects the flash module of the rear camera, located right next to the lens. It shields this module from knocks, dust and scratches, while letting the light from the flash through. When it is cracked, loose or clouded, the quality of the flash and of the photos can suffer, and dust can get into the housing.
This part is a compatible premium version, made by a high-end third-party manufacturer. Its appearance is close to that of the current part, but it is not original. Before fitting, switch off the Edge 60 (XT2505 / 2025) and remove the battery if the procedure allows it. Work on a clean surface and use a plastic tool to lift the old part, without forcing or bending the neighbouring ribbon cable. If the adhesive is stubborn, warm it gently with a hair dryer on a moderate setting.
After fitting, check that the cover lies flat, does not stand proud and does not obstruct the lens. Check the quality of night photos with the flash turned on. Avoid any pressure on the area while the adhesive sets. For any handling of a lithium battery, never puncture it or bend it; if it is swollen, do not use it any more.
Tips
- Disconnect the battery before working on the neighbouring ribbon cable
- Warm moderately to lift the old cover, without forcing it
- Clean the area with isopropyl alcohol and let it dry
- Check that the cover is flat before closing the housing
- A swollen battery must no longer be used
