Description
The G5 lower housing is the bottom shell that protects the inside of your device and keeps the components in place. It also acts as a support for some internal parts and contributes to the overall rigidity of the chassis. When it is cracked, warped or worn, it can let in dust and moisture, or cause play and abnormal noises. This original manufacturer part, or official Service Pack part, lets you replace a damaged housing on the G5 model to get a clean and solid assembly back.
Before you start, switch off the device and unplug the charger. Work on a clean surface and keep the screws in a small tray. Use plastic tools to separate the clips without forcing them, and disconnect the battery before touching the internal ribbon cables. If the battery is swollen, do not use it and do not puncture or bend it.
After reassembly, check that the housing clicks into place with no play, that all screws are fitted and that no cable is pinched. Switch the device back on only once everything is closed, then check that the affected parts work correctly. Keep warmth moderate during the first uses.
