Description
The front camera is the small camera module at the top of the screen, used for selfies, video calls and facial recognition unlock. This part, compatible with the Pixel 2, lets you replace a damaged or faulty module, for example when the image is blurred, dark, frozen or missing in photo and video apps.
Before fitting, switch off the phone and disconnect the battery if you open the device. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static mat if possible, to avoid electrostatic discharges that can damage components. Never force the ribbon cables, handle them carefully and do not bend them. Use moderate heat when removing glued parts.
After reassembly, switch the device on and test the camera before fully closing the phone: take a few photos and videos, and check the focus, brightness and facial recognition function. If a swollen battery appears during the repair, stop using it.
Tips
- Switch off the phone and disconnect the battery before any work
- Handle the ribbon cables gently, without bending or forcing them
- Use an anti-static mat to limit electrical discharges
- Test the camera before fully closing the device
- Never puncture or bend a lithium battery
