Description
The front camera is the camera module located on the front of the smartphone. It is used for video calls, selfies and facial recognition. When it is faulty, the image may become blurry, black, frozen or may not display at all during a video conference or when taking a photo.
This front camera is a part compatible with the Google Pixel 2 XL, manufactured by a third party. It allows you to replace the faulty module without modifying the rest of the device. Before starting, switch off the phone, remove the case and prepare a small suitable screwdriver and a suction cup. Work on a clean, flat surface and avoid static electricity by regularly touching a metal ground.
Be sure to disconnect the battery before handling the ribbon cables, as they are fragile and easily damaged. Handle the cable with care and do not bend it. After assembly, check that the camera displays correctly in the camera app and during a video call. Also test the brightness and focus before closing the device.
Tips
- Switch off the phone and disconnect the battery before any intervention
- Handle the ribbon cable carefully, without folding or twisting it
- Avoid static electricity by connecting yourself to a metal ground
- Check the camera works before closing the housing
- Do not charge a swollen battery and never puncture it
Fitting
