Description
The front camera is the small camera module at the top of the screen, used for selfies, video calls and video conferences. This part, compatible with the Google Pixel 5a 5G, lets you replace a faulty module when the image is black, blurred, frozen or missing in photo and video apps.
Before you start, switch the phone off completely and disconnect the battery if the disassembly procedure calls for it. Work on a clean, well-lit surface, with tools suited to opening smartphones. Avoid excessive heat to lift the screen, and wear an anti-static wrist strap or regularly touch an earthed metal surface to limit static electricity, which can damage electronic components. Never force the ribbon cables and keep the small screws in a container so they don't get lost.
Once reassembly is complete, switch the device back on and check that the front camera works in the camera app, when recording video and during a call. Also check the sharpness, image brightness and proper operation of the proximity sensor near the screen. If in doubt, reassemble the phone without overtightening the screws and run a full test again.
