Description
The front camera is the small camera module at the top of the screen, on the front side. It is used for selfies, video calls and facial recognition. This part, compatible with the Pixel XL, lets you replace a faulty module when the image is blurry, black, distorted or missing during a video call.
Before you start, switch the phone off completely and work on a clean, clear surface. Disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables, and avoid static discharges by earthing yourself or handling the components with care. Never puncture or bend the lithium battery, and do not use a device whose battery is swollen.
After fitting, check photo capture, video and facial recognition before closing the phone completely. If the device overheats abnormally, stop the repair. Keep screws and small parts in a container so nothing gets lost.
Tips
- Switch off the phone and disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables
- Avoid static electricity: work on a clean, non-conductive surface
- Never puncture or bend the lithium battery
- Test photo, video and facial recognition before closing the phone
- Keep screws and small parts in a container so nothing gets lost
