Description
This front camera is a compatible spare part for the Surface Pro 6 (2018). It is used to replace the camera module at the front of the tablet, which handles video conferencing, video calls and Windows Hello facial recognition. If your camera no longer switches on, shows a black image or stops working during calls, this replacement may solve the problem, provided the fault really lies with the module itself.
Before you start, switch the tablet off completely and unplug the charger. Work on a clean, flat surface with a suitable screwdriver. To avoid any risk, disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables, and prevent static discharge by earthing yourself or regularly touching a metal surface. Handle the part by its edges and never force the delicate connectors.
Once the module is fitted and the tablet closed, switch it back on, check the image in the Camera app, then test Windows Hello. Do not puncture or bend the lithium battery, and stop using the device if the battery is swollen. Keep heat moderate during fitting.
