Description
This flex cable carries the proximity sensor of the iPhone 14 Pro Max. This component detects the presence of your face during a call: it switches off the touchscreen to prevent accidental touches, then switches it back on when the device moves away from your ear. It also plays a role in the operation of Face ID facial recognition on the models that have it. When it fails, the screen stays black during calls, switches off at random or stops responding.
This part is a compatible version, made by a third party. It must be programmed to work correctly on the iPhone 14 Pro Max; without this step, the sensor may not be recognised. Before disassembly, switch off the device and disconnect the battery to avoid any short circuit. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if possible, and avoid excessive heat when opening.
After fitting, check that the flex cable is properly clipped in and that the part is securely fixed. Make a test call and check the screen switching off and on again. If the battery is swollen, do not use it and do not puncture or bend it.
