Description
The Moto E4 (XT1763 / 2017) sensor (US version) is part of the device's Face ID system. It takes part in facial recognition, meaning it identifies the user to unlock the phone and authorise certain payments or sign-ins. A fault with this sensor can show up as Face ID no longer responding, an error message linked to the front camera, or repeated recognition failures. This is a compatible part, made by a third-party manufacturer, intended to replace the current component when it is faulty.
Before you begin, switch the device off completely and disconnect the battery before handling any flex cables. Work on a clean, flat surface, with an antistatic station if possible, and use suitable tools so you do not damage the fine connectors. Handle the part by its edges, without touching the optical area, and avoid excessive heat when lifting the adhesive strips.
Once fitting is complete, switch the device back on and check that Face ID works correctly in the settings, setting up facial recognition again if needed. Also test the camera and the infrared light. If the result is not satisfactory, switch the device off again and check the alignment and connection of the flex cable.
