Description
The audio IC for your iPhone 7 (ref. U3500, ref. U3101) is an electronic component that processes the device's audio signals. It handles sound output, in particular for the loudspeaker, the earpiece and the jack socket when it is in use. If it is faulty, you may notice missing, distorted or very faint sound, crackling, or no sound during calls and music.
This part is compatible and made by a third party. It lets you replace the current part at a lower cost, but its operation must be checked carefully after replacement. Before you start, switch the device off, disconnect the battery and work on a clean, dry surface. Use an anti-static wrist strap or regularly touch an earthed metal surface to limit electrostatic discharge, and note where each screw goes.
After fitting, switch the device back on and test the loudspeaker, microphone, earpiece and jack socket, as well as the volume at different levels. If the battery is lithium, do not puncture or bend it; if it is swollen, stop using it. Stay alert to any unusual heating during the first tests.
