Description
This electronic component, referenced TPS65656A2 / U9100, is a spare part compatible with iPhone 13 Pro Max. It is a power management integrated circuit, used to distribute and regulate current between the different parts of the board. When it fails, the device may fail to start, switch off at random, stop charging properly or show abnormal power consumption. Replacing this component can help restore normal operation, provided the fault really comes from this circuit.
Before any work, switch off the device, unplug the charger and, if possible, the battery. Work on a clean surface, with an antistatic station or an earthing wrist strap, to avoid electrostatic discharge. Moderate heat is enough for desoldering: excessive heat can damage the tracks next to the component on the board.
After fitting, check the solder joints carefully under a microscope or magnifying glass, then check for any short circuit before reconnecting the power. If the battery is swollen, stop using it and never puncture or bend it.
