Description
This FPC connector (flexible flat cable) links the iPhone 15 proximity and ambient light sensor to the device's motherboard. The sensor detects when an object is close, for example your face during a call, and adjusts the screen brightness. When it stops working, the screen may stay black during a call, the brightness may no longer adjust, or the sensor may seem to be missing from the settings.
Before any work, switch the device off completely and disconnect the battery where the design allows. Work on a clean surface with a plastic opening tool, and avoid static electricity by touching a metal ground before handling components. Never force the cable and do not bend it beyond its natural flexibility.
After fitting, check that the connector is properly seated, then power the device back on. Test the sensor by bringing your hand close to the earpiece area, then observe the screen brightness. If the device overheats or behaves abnormally, stop and check the connection again.
