Description
This FPC connector (flexible contact ribbon) links the LiDAR scanner of your iPhone 16 Pro to the motherboard. The scanner, also called the radar scanner, measures distances for autofocus, augmented reality and certain photo functions. When this connector is worn, dirty or not properly seated, the sensor may no longer be recognised, measurements become unstable or the device shows a rear camera error.
Before you start, switch the iPhone 16 Pro off completely and disconnect the battery if the procedure requires it. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if possible, and use a plastic tool so you do not damage the contacts. Never bend the ribbon and do not force the connector latch. A swollen lithium battery must no longer be used.
Once the repair is finished, reconnect the battery, close the device and then check that the scanner is recognised in the settings or by a diagnostic app. Also check the camera focus under different lighting conditions.
Tips
- Switch off the iPhone 16 Pro and disconnect the battery before starting work
- Work with an anti-static wrist strap and on a clean surface
- Do not use metal tools on the connector contacts
- Do not bend the ribbon and never force the latch
- Check the scanner after fitting, before closing the device completely
