Description
The iPhone 8 Plus diode is a small electronic component that lets current flow in one direction only. It protects a circuit against reverse polarity and helps regulate certain voltages on the board. When it fails, the device may no longer start, no longer charge, or show inconsistent electrical behaviour. This part is a compatible version, made by a third-party manufacturer. It is not identical to the original part, so please check that the reference matches your board before buying.
Before you start, switch off the power and disconnect the battery. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if possible, and avoid contact with the other components. A soldering iron set to a moderate temperature reduces the risk of damaging the neighbouring tracks. Note the fitting direction of the diode carefully, as a wrong orientation can stop the device from working.
Once the diode is soldered, visually check the joints and make sure there is no short circuit before powering the device back on. At the first start-up, keep an eye on the temperature and charging current. If the device overheats abnormally or the problem persists, switch off immediately and recheck your work.
