Before you start, switch the phone off completely, remove the battery if your model allows it, and work on a clean surface, discharging static electricity by touching a metal object. Note the position and orientation of each screw and connector to make reassembly easier. Replace the current part carefully, without forcing it.
After fitting, check the operation before closing the device completely: make a test call and check the sound, with the volume set to a moderate level. If the earpiece does not work, check the ribbon cable connection and make sure no dust or protective film is blocking the grille. Never force the connectors.
