Description
The back glass is the glass panel that protects the back of the phone. It covers the chassis and the housing where the internal components are located. When it is cracked, scratched or broken, it can cut your hand, let in dust and moisture, and spoil the look of the device. This compatible part lets you replace the current one to restore a smooth surface and proper protection.
Before you start, switch the phone off and disconnect the battery if the procedure requires it. Work on a clean, flat surface, with an anti-static mat if possible. Use a plastic opening tool to avoid scratching the chassis, and gently warm the edge with a hair dryer on a moderate setting to soften the adhesive. Never force it and do not bend the battery.
Once the glass is fitted, check that it sits flush all round the edge and that no gap appears. Check the water resistance if the device had one, and power the phone back on to test that it works properly. If the battery looks swollen, stop using it.
Tips
- Switch off the phone and disconnect the battery before starting work
- Warm the edge gently with a hair dryer, without overheating
- Use a plastic tool so the chassis is not scratched
- Check the alignment and the absence of any gap once the glass is in place
- Never puncture or bend the lithium battery
