Description
This fingerprint sensor is a compatible part designed for the Redmi 12C model. It is the sensor that recognises your finger to unlock the device and confirm certain payments or sign-ins. When it fails, the phone stops responding to your fingerprint, recognition is slow or intermittent, or the feature disappears entirely from the settings. This replacement targets these specific faults, without touching the other components of the device.
Before you begin, switch the phone off completely and disconnect the battery before handling the ribbon cables. Work on a clean surface with a suitable tool, and avoid static discharge by touching an earthed metal surface. Handle the part by its edges, without touching the sensor area, and never force the connectors. Gently warm the adhesive if needed, without excessive heat.
Once fitting is complete, check that the part is correctly positioned and that the ribbon cable is properly clipped in. Switch the device back on and register your fingerprint again in the security settings. Test recognition several times with different fingers. If a battery is involved in the repair, carry out a few full charge cycles to stabilise the system. Never use a device with a swollen battery.
