Description

This set of 3 compatible screws is intended for the MacBook Pro 15" A1286 from 2012. These are small fixing screws used to hold the internal components and the casing of the computer together. A lost, damaged or stripped screw can prevent a secure fixing and cause play or a poor fit of the lid.

Before you start, prepare a clean, well-lit work surface, have a screwdriver suited to the size of the screws to hand, and note the position of each screw so you do not mix them up. Discharge static electricity by touching an earthed metal surface, and disconnect the battery before handling ribbon cables. Never puncture or bend a lithium battery. If a battery looks swollen, stop using it.

After reassembly, check that each screw is tight without being forced, that the lid closes properly and that no component moves. Switch the device on only once reassembly is complete, then watch that it does not overheat.

Tips

Note the position of each screw before removal
Use a suitable screwdriver to avoid damaging the screw head
Do not force the tightening, a stripped thread happens quickly
Discharge static electricity before handling components
Check the fixing and the closing of the lid after reassembly
