Description
This 4-pin EEPROM memory is a small electronic component that keeps data even when powered off, such as certain settings or operating parameters. On a device compatible with iPhone 7, it may be involved in memory-related faults, for example a start-up that hangs or a configuration error. This is a compatible part, made by a third party. The current component must be carefully removed before fitting this one.
Before any work, switch off the device, unplug it and work on a clean, dry surface. Use an anti-static wrist strap or regularly touch a metal earth to avoid electrostatic discharge. Note the orientation of the chip before removing the current part, and heat moderately so as not to damage the neighbouring tracks.
Once the component is replaced, carefully check the solder joints under a microscope or magnifier, then check for short circuits. Only power the device on after these checks and observe its behaviour at start-up.
