Description
This compatible microphone replaces the built-in microphone of your Surface Pro 5 (2017) when it no longer picks up your voice, crackles or stays silent during calls, video conferences and recordings. It is a part made by a third party, designed to fit this model. It helps you restore correct audio capture without replacing the entire tablet.
Before you start, switch off the Surface completely and unplug its power adapter. Work on a clean surface, protected from static electricity, and use an anti-static wrist strap if you have one. Disconnect the battery before touching the ribbon cables, then carefully remove the current part. Do not bend the cables and never force the connectors. If the battery is swollen, do not handle it: stop the repair.
After fitting, reconnect the battery, power the tablet back on and test the microphone in a recording app as well as during a call. Also check that the tablet does not overheat abnormally. If the sound remains weak or unstable, recheck the ribbon cable connection before drawing any conclusion.
