Description
This compatible microphone replaces the built-in microphone of the Surface Pro X (2020) when sound pickup becomes weak, muffled or inaudible. It is used for video calls, recordings and voice recognition. Typical faults it fixes include crackling sound, callers who cannot hear you or a distorted voice.
Before starting, switch the tablet off completely, unplug the charger and work on a clean surface, protected from static electricity. A lithium battery must never be punctured, bent or heated: if it is swollen, do not attempt to intervene and stop using it. Disconnect the battery before handling any ribbon cables, and note the location and orientation of the connectors.
After fitting, check the microphone with a test recording, then with a video call. If the tablet does not detect the microphone, check that the ribbon cable is properly seated. Remember that the existing part can be kept until the full functional check is complete.
