This compatible microphone replaces the component that picks up your voice during calls, video recordings and voice commands on a Surface Pro 4 (2015). Replacing it is an affordable way to restore correct voice capture without changing the whole tablet.
Before you start, switch the tablet off completely, unplug the charger and place the device on a flat, clean surface. Work in a dry room at moderate temperature, and touch a metal mass before handling components to discharge static electricity. The ribbon cables are fragile: disconnect the battery before any work on the connectors, and never force a cable.
Once the microphone is fitted, check it by making a test call, recording a short message and using dictation. If the tablet's battery is swollen, do not use it and do not puncture or bend it. If the result is still unsatisfactory, first check the ribbon cable connections before drawing any conclusion.
