It runs through the hinge and bends each time the lid is opened and closed. Over time, these repeated movements can wear the cable and lead to display flickering, areas that stop responding to touch, or a loose connection. This compatible cable is intended for people who repair their own Surface Pro 3 (2014) and want to replace the worn part.
Before you start, switch the device off completely and disconnect the battery before touching any cable. Work on a clean surface, use an anti-static wrist strap if you have one, and avoid bending the connectors. Handle the parts gently, without forcing the retaining clips, and take photos of each step so you remember how the cables are routed.
After fitting, test the function before fully reassembling the device: opening and closing the lid, display, touch areas and connectors. If the battery is swollen, do not use it and never puncture it.
