Description
This Surface RT (2012) display flex cable is a compatible spare part designed to replace the cable that connects the screen to the device's motherboard. It carries the display signal and, depending on the screen design, the touch response. When it is damaged, you often see a black screen, frozen areas of the display, abnormal lines or colours, or a touchscreen that no longer responds properly. Before you start, switch the device off completely, disconnect the battery if the procedure requires it, and work on a clean, clear surface. Remember to discharge your static electricity by touching a metal ground, and never force the connectors.
Disassemble the device with suitable tools and keep the screws in a precise order for reassembly. Check that the cable is correctly positioned, that the connectors are pushed in without play and that no cable is trapped under a metal part. After assembly, switch the device on and test the display, brightness, touchscreen and the sensors near the screen before closing the housing permanently. A swollen, punctured or bent battery must never be used.
