Description
The headphone jack flex cable Nintendo Switch OLED is the flexible circuit that connects the headphone socket to the device's motherboard. It carries the audio signal to wired headphones and also detects when headphones are plugged in, so the internal speaker is switched off at the right moment. When this part is faulty, you often notice sound that cuts out, crackling, sound on one channel only, or no sound at all in the headphones, while the main speaker still works.
Before you start, switch off the device and disconnect the battery where possible, to avoid any short circuit. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap or by regularly touching an earthed metal part to discharge static electricity. For the lithium battery, do not puncture it, do not bend it, and do not use a swollen or damaged cell.
After fitting, check the function before closing the device completely: test the headphone socket with headphones, audio playback, insertion detection and the microphone if your model has one. Moderate heat is enough to loosen adhesives, but never heat the battery strongly.
Tips
- Switch off and disconnect the battery before touching the flex cables
- Work with anti-static protection and on a clean surface
- Never puncture or bend the lithium battery
- Test the headphone jack and detection before closing
- A swollen battery must no longer be used
