It converts digital signals into audio and controls the audio inputs and outputs, such as the speaker, the microphone and the headphone jack. When it is faulty, you may notice no sound, crackling, a microphone that no longer works or an intermittent audio signal.
Before starting the replacement on your Galaxy A80 (A805 / 2019), switch the device off completely and disconnect the battery where possible. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if you have one, and handle the chip by its edges. Use moderate heat for desoldering so that the neighbouring tracks are not damaged.
