Description
The Galaxy C5 audio IC is an integrated circuit that manages the sound of the device. It converts digital signals into audio for the speaker, earpiece and jack socket, and it also handles the microphone. When it fails, you may notice sound that cuts out, crackles or is missing, a microphone that no longer works, or audio that disappears only when earphones are plugged in. This compatible part, made by a third-party manufacturer, is intended to replace the current component on a Galaxy C5 whose audio chip is no longer working.
Before you start, switch off the device and disconnect the battery where possible to avoid any short circuit. Work on a clean, anti-static surface, ideally with an earthing wrist strap, as integrated circuits are sensitive to static electricity. Use moderate heat and a suitable station, and do not force the legs. Check the orientation of the chip and the alignment of the pins carefully before soldering.
After fitting, test the speaker, earpiece, microphone and jack socket before closing the device. If the battery is swollen, do not use it, puncture it or bend it.
