Description
The Galaxy S5 audio chip (Ref. WM5110E) is an electronic component that manages the device's sound: it converts digital signals into audio and drives the sound outputs and inputs, notably the speaker, the microphone and the jack socket. When it fails, you often notice missing or distorted sound, crackling, a microphone that no longer works, or no audio signal during a call or when playing music.
This is a compatible part, made by a third party, designed to replace the current part of the Galaxy S5 model. Before any work, switch off the device, disconnect the battery where possible and work on a clean surface, wearing an antistatic wrist strap to avoid electrostatic discharge. Moderate heat is enough for desoldering; never force the circuit tracks.
After fitting, carefully check the solder joints under a microscope or magnifier, then test the speaker, microphone and jack socket before closing the device. If the battery shows any swelling, do not use it and do not puncture or bend it.
