The audio IC iPad Pro 9.7" (2016) (2nd generation, reference CS42L83A) is an electronic component that handles sound conversion and amplification. It receives the audio signals from the processor and sends them to the speaker, the earpiece or the headphone jack. When it fails, you may notice no sound, crackling or distorted audio, or an audio output problem on one channel.
This part is a compatible alternative, made by a third-party manufacturer. It can replace the current part on the iPad Pro 9.7" (2016) model. Before any work, switch off the device, disconnect the battery and work on a clean surface. Use an anti-static wrist strap or regularly touch a metal ground to avoid electrostatic discharges that can damage the component. Moderate heat is enough for desoldering: avoid overheating the neighbouring tracks.
After fitting, check the operation before fully closing the device: test the speaker, earpiece, microphone and headphone jack, adjusting the volume over several levels. If a fault persists, check the solder joints and the neighbouring connectors before drawing a conclusion.
