Description
The audio IC iPhone 16e (ref. 338s01148) is an electronic component that controls the sound of the device. It converts digital signals into audio and drives the outputs to the speaker, the earpiece and the microphone. When it is faulty, you often notice no sound or distorted sound, crackling, a microphone that no longer works or no audio output at all, sometimes without the speaker itself being the cause. This part is a compatible version, made by a third party, intended to replace the current part of the iPhone 16e model.
Before any work, switch off the device and disconnect the battery where possible, to avoid any short circuit. Work on a clean, anti-static surface and handle the component by its edges to prevent electrostatic discharge. A desoldering station or a hot-air tool set to a moderate temperature limits the risk of damaging the tracks next to the chip on the board.
After fitting, check the operation of each audio output: speaker, earpiece, microphone and calls. Also make sure no solder bridges form between two pads. If the result is not satisfactory, recheck the positioning of the chip before concluding that the part is faulty.
