Description
The power IC, also called the power management circuit, is an electronic component found on the motherboard of many devices. It regulates the voltage sent to the different parts of the board and helps ensure proper charging and correct operation of the power supply. When it is faulty, the device may fail to start, switch off at random, stop charging or show irregular electrical behaviour. This part, reference 6829, is offered as a compatible version for the iPhone XS Max model.
Before any work, switch off the device, unplug the charger and, if possible, disconnect the battery. Work on a clean, anti-static surface and wear an anti-static wrist strap to avoid damaging other components. Moderate heat is enough for desoldering: avoid overheating the board. Check the exact position of the chip before removing it and note its orientation.
After fitting, connect the device to a charger and check that it starts and charges normally. If the device has a lithium battery, carry out a few full charge cycles so the management system returns to stable behaviour. Never use a swollen, punctured or bent battery.
