Description
The U3100 power management IC is an electronic component fitted to the mainboard of certain devices, notably the iPhone XS model. It helps distribute and regulate power between the battery, the charging connector and the board's circuits. When it fails, the device may stop charging, switch off unexpectedly or fail to start. This part is offered in a compatible version, made by a third party, for a more affordable repair.
Before any work, switch the device off completely, unplug the charger and disconnect the battery. Work on a clean surface, wear an anti-static wrist strap and use a soldering station at a moderate temperature so you don't damage the neighbouring tracks. Note the orientation of the current part before removing it.
After fitting, check the board under a magnifier and confirm there is no short circuit. Then power the device back on and, for the battery, carry out a few full charge and discharge cycles. If the battery overheats or swells, stop immediately and stop using it.
