Description
The charging IC is an electronic component that manages battery power when you connect your iPad Mini 6 (2021) to the mains or a USB port. It regulates the current and voltage sent to the battery, protecting both the battery and the motherboard. When it fails, the device may stop charging altogether, charge very slowly, or switch off while the battery still shows power.
Before you start, switch off the iPad Mini 6 (2021) completely and unplug the charger. Work on a clean, stable surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if possible, as electronic components are sensitive to static electricity. For any work on the board, disconnect the battery before handling the ribbon cables, and never puncture or bend a lithium battery. A swollen battery must no longer be used.
Once fitted, check that the device charges properly and that heat stays moderate during charging. For a battery returned to service, carry out a few full charge and discharge cycles so the system can regain stable operation.
