Description
The charging IC is a small integrated circuit located on the device's motherboard, near the charging connector. It manages the current sent to the battery when you plug in the cable: it regulates the voltage, protects the battery against overcharging and lets the device recognise the charger. This compatible part, referenced 1618A1, is intended for the iPhone 14 Pro model.
If your iPhone 14 Pro no longer charges, won't start while plugged in or heats up abnormally while charging, the charging IC may be one of the possible causes. Before replacing it, check the cable, the charger and the connector, as a faulty connector can produce the same symptoms. For any work on the board, work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if possible, and disconnect the battery before handling any flex cables.
After fitting, connect a reliable charger and check that charging starts properly and that the temperature stays normal. For a battery that has been deeply discharged for a long time, allow several full charge cycles before judging the result. Never puncture or bend a lithium battery, and do not use a device whose battery is swollen.
