Description
The IPhone SE charging IC is a small integrated circuit that manages the power supply to the battery when you plug in the charger. It regulates current and voltage so the battery charges gradually and safely. On a compatible device, it is what allows charging to start, stop correctly and protect the battery against overvoltage.
When this chip fails, the most common faults are charging that no longer starts, very slow or intermittent charging, or a device that does not recognise the charger. This compatible component is designed to replace the existing part on a IPhone SE, without touching the other elements of the board.
Before you start, switch off the device and disconnect the battery. Work on a clean, anti-static surface with a suitable wrist strap or mat, and use a hot air station or a soldering iron at a moderate temperature. After fitting, check for any short circuit, then run a few complete charge cycles so the system can stabilise.
