Description
The power management IC, also known as PMIC, is an electronic component that regulates the voltage and current sent to the different parts of iPhone 7 Plus. It manages battery charging, distributes power between the processor, the screen and the other components, and protects the device against power surges. When it fails, the device may stop charging, switch off for no reason, overheat abnormally or fail to start at all. This part is a compatible version, made by a third party, designed to replace the current part of the model indicated.
Before any work, switch off iPhone 7 Plus, unplug the charger and disconnect the battery. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static wrist strap if possible, and use a suitable soldering iron and desoldering station. Handle the battery with care: never puncture it, never bend it, and do not use a swollen battery. Moderate heat is enough when desoldering, so as not to damage the neighbouring tracks.
Once the fitting is complete, check the connections under a magnifier, then reconnect the battery. Run a first charge until full, then carry out several charge and discharge cycles to check stability. Monitor the temperature during the first uses.
Tips
- Switch off iPhone 7 Plus and disconnect the battery before working on it
- Wear an anti-static wrist strap to protect the components
- Never puncture or bend the lithium battery
- Do not use a swollen battery or one that heats up abnormally
- Carry out several charge cycles to check stability
