The iPhone 16 Pro Max backlight IC (ref. 338S00616) is an electronic component that powers the LEDs responsible for lighting your device's screen. When it weakens or fails, the screen may appear very dark, the image may only be visible under strong light, or some areas may no longer light up. In this case, the problem often comes from this IC rather than the display panel itself.
This part is a compatible version, made by a third-party manufacturer. It lets you replace the faulty IC at a low cost. Before you start, switch the device off completely, disconnect the battery and work on a clean surface. Avoid static electricity by earthing yourself or touching a metal surface. Do not use excessive heat to lift components: moderate warmth is enough.
After fitting, reconnect the battery, power the device on and check brightness across several levels, as well as the absence of dark zones or flickering. If the screen still looks abnormal, disconnect the battery again and check the connections. Never puncture or bend a lithium battery, and stop using any device whose battery is swollen.
