Description
The SIM tray is the small part that holds the SIM card and the microSD card and slides them into the phone. When it is broken, bent, or no longer closes properly, the card may not be recognised or the phone may lose network. This tray, compatible with the Honor 8a Pro (2019), lets you replace the current part without touching the rest of the device.
Before you start, switch the phone off completely and remove the protective case. Use the ejection tool supplied with most kits to open the slot, then pull out the damaged tray. Compare the shape of the new tray with the current part to check the orientation of the notches before inserting it. Never force it: a misaligned tray can damage the frame.
After fitting, check that the tray slides in without resistance and that the SIM card is properly detected. Keep in mind that this part is compatible and made by a third party, so it may differ slightly from the current part. If the phone still does not recognise the card, check the card itself first before concluding that the part is faulty.
Tips
- Switch off the phone and remove the case before any work.
- Use an ejection tool to open the slot, without forcing it.
- Compare the orientation of the tray with the current part before reassembling.
- Check that the tray slides freely once refitted.
- Test SIM card detection before closing the device.
