Description
The SIM tray is the small metal piece that holds the SIM card and slides it into the iPad when you put it back in place. This compatible tray replaces the one on the iPad 5 (2017) when it is broken, bent, stuck or lost. It is used to insert or remove the SIM card without forcing it and to keep the slot properly closed, which protects the inside of the tablet from dust and moisture.
Before you start, switch off the iPad, remove the SIM card and prepare a small ejection tool. Work on a flat, clean surface and keep your hands and tools away from the internal connectors. Check that the compatible part matches the iPad 5 (2017) model and compare it with the current part before fitting. If the current tray is only bent, gentle straightening may be enough, but a broken tray must be replaced.
After replacing it, put the tray back without forcing it, then insert the SIM card and check that the tray closes properly. Turn the device on and check that the card is detected. Avoid any knocks to the slot and handle the device carefully, as static electricity can damage the components.
