Description
The SIM tray is the small metal part that holds the SIM card and slides it into the tablet. On the iPad Mini 2 (2013), it can bend, jam or break from being pulled out and reinserted repeatedly, which stops the card from being read or the tray from closing properly. This compatible tray replaces the existing part to restore normal operation of the SIM slot.
Before you start, switch the tablet off completely and use the ejection tool to remove the tray gently, without forcing it. Work on a flat, clean surface and avoid static discharge by touching a metal surface before handling the components. If you need to open the device to reach certain parts, disconnect the battery before working on any ribbon cables, and never puncture or bend the lithium battery.
Once the assembly is finished, check that the tray slides in and locks without resistance, then confirm that the SIM card is detected. If the tablet shows a swollen battery or overheats abnormally, stop using it immediately.
