Description
The SIM tray is the small metal part that holds the SIM card and, on some models, the memory card. It slides into the side of the device and lets you insert or remove the cards without opening the phone. This compatible iPhone 8 part is used to replace a tray that is broken, bent, stuck or whose ease of use has worsened over time. The most common faults are a tray that no longer closes properly, a SIM card that is no longer detected, or a tray that no longer ejects.
Before you start, switch the iPhone off completely and disconnect the battery if your disassembly requires it. Work on a clean surface with a suitable ejection tool, and avoid applying excessive pressure to the chassis. Check that the part is compatible with your model before fitting it, and compare it with the current part to confirm orientation and shape. Think about static electricity: touch an earthed metal surface before handling the components.
After reassembly, test the tray several times: it should slide without friction, lock in straight and keep the SIM card firmly in place. Insert a SIM card, restart the device and check that the network is detected. If unusual play or resistance persists, stop and start the fitting again calmly.
