Description
The SIM tray is the small metal part that holds the SIM card and, on some models, the memory card. It slides into the side of the device and must stay firmly in place so that the card is recognised and the network works properly.
This compatible iPhone XS SIM tray replaces the original one when it is bent, broken, cracked or no longer closes properly. It also lets you bring back into service a phone whose tray was damaged by an impact or repeated handling. The current part can be removed with an ejector tool, then replaced with this tray.
Before you start, switch off the iPhone and disconnect the battery if you open the phone. Work on a clean surface, with an anti-static mat if possible, to avoid discharges on the components. After fitting, check that the tray slides in without forcing, that the SIM card is detected and that the phone picks up the network.
Tips
- Use a suitable ejector tool to remove the tray without bending it
- Check the alignment of the tray before pushing it fully in
- Never force it: a misaligned tray can damage the chassis
- Test SIM detection and network connection after fitting
