Description
The SIM tray is the small part that holds the SIM card and, on some models, the microSD memory card. It slides into the side of the phone and lets you insert or remove the cards without opening the device. This compatible part is designed for the Motorola Moto M, model XT1662 (2016). It replaces the tray when it is bent, broken, jammed or no longer recognises the SIM card.
Before you start, switch the phone off completely and remove the case. Use the SIM ejector tool or an unfolded paper clip to pull out the old tray, pressing gently and without forcing it. Take out the SIM card and the microSD card to avoid damaging them. Work on a flat, clean surface, protected from static electricity, and avoid any unnecessary contact with the motherboard components.
Once the tray is fitted, check that it slides without play and clicks into place properly. Switch the device back on and check that the SIM card is detected and the network is accessible. If the phone does not respond, switch it off, remove the battery if your model allows it, and repeat the checks. Never puncture or bend a lithium battery.
