Description
The SIM tray is the small metal or plastic part that holds the SIM card and microSD card and keeps them in place inside the phone. This compatible part replaces the damaged tray of a Google Pixel 3a XL, for example when it is bent, broken, jammed or no longer opens properly. It restores clean access to the cards and a sound mechanical fit of the housing.
Before you start, switch the smartphone off completely and remove the case. Use the eject tool or a paperclip to open the tray, then pull it out without forcing it. Keep the current part to hand so you can compare dimensions and cutouts before fitting the new one. Avoid any contact with electronic components and discharge static electricity by touching an earthed metal surface.
Once the tray is back in place, check that it slides without resistance and locks properly into the housing. Insert a SIM card and confirm that the phone recognises it. If the tray does not click into place correctly, stop and recheck the alignment rather than forcing it.
