Description
The trackpad is the touch surface that replaces the mouse on a laptop. It detects the movement of your fingers and transmits movements, clicks and gestures to the system. When it stops responding, the cursor freezes, jumps erratically or ignores clicks. This part, compatible with Surface Book 2 13.5", lets you replace the faulty module without changing the whole top cover or the motherboard.
Before you start, switch off the computer, unplug the charger and disconnect the battery if your model allows it. Work on a flat, clean surface with suitable tools, and note the position of each screw. Ribbon cables are fragile: lift the connectors carefully, without forcing them. Discharge static electricity by touching an earthed metal part before handling the components.
After fitting, reconnect the battery, switch the device on and test the touchpad in every direction, including clicks and multi-finger gestures. If the battery is swollen, do not use it and do not puncture or bend it. Lithium batteries must not be exposed to excessive heat.
